The variety of garlic we are growing is called Music. It is mild and tasty and is considered by many as the chef's choice. It has large, easy to peel cloves and keeps well for several months. In fact, we keep using ours until the next year's crop is available. That is correct, a whole year.
The cylindrical variety we grow are the shape of a carrot but are a deeper purple colour and sweeter than regular beets.
Six popular varieties; spaghetti, acorn (pepper), butternut, delicata (sweet potato), honey nut (our great grand son's favourite) and Sweet Mama.
In recent years we added the new variety, Sweet Mama, recommended by one of our customers. Its flesh is bright yellow with a sweet flavour, nutty and dry. It has great flavour and is quickly becoming very popular in our market. It stores well.
There are so many ways to prepare them with all of the flavour of fresh, locally grown produce. Look for free recipes in our market.
